Australian buyers include Indian grocery importers, health-food wholesalers, and snack and fitness-food brands that roast and flavour makhana locally. Australia has some of the strictest import biosecurity in the world, so we start every enquiry with the import conditions for the exact product, packaging and treatment, and only then agree grade and price.

How Australian import checks work for makhana
- Biosecurity conditions: imports are checked under the Australian Department of Agriculture's biosecurity rules. The BICON import conditions database lists what applies to the product, and the department also explains importing plant-based food. We review BICON with you before dispatch.
- Packaging and treatment: clean, new, food-grade packaging, with a treatment certificate if the conditions ask for one.
- Labelling: the Food Standards Code (FSANZ) sets country of origin, allergen and nutrition labelling. This is the importer's or brand's responsibility. We supply 10 kg bags for local repacking, or private-label packs printed to your artwork.
Rules change. Your importer or customs broker should confirm current conditions before ordering. We do not claim organic certification.
How an Australian order works
For Australia we put the import check before the price.
- Product and pack. Tell us the product (kernels, roasted or powder), grade and pack, so the right import conditions are checked.
- BICON review. We go through the BICON conditions with you and note any treatment or packaging requirement.
- Sample. An air trial from 8 kg, with your broker confirming the conditions for the sample as well.
- Quotation and terms. EXW, FOB or CIF, with 50% advance and 50% against the commercial invoice (LC accepted).
- Preparation and shipping. 2 to 15 working days to prepare the material, then loading at an Indian port, with new food-grade packaging and any treatment certificate the conditions ask for.
Roasted & flavoured makhana for Australian brands

- Flavours: Peri Peri, Salt & Pepper and Lemon & Mint.

- HSN code 20081929.
