Makhana export – common questions

Who handles your makhana exports?

All exports are handled by our export company, Moso International Private Limited (incorporated 2024). Makhana is processed and packed at the National Makhana Udyog facility in Katihar, Bihar.

What is the minimum order for export?

Buyers can start with a trial order by air from 8 kg, or order full containers. A 20 ft container carries 2 to 2.5 tonnes and a 40 ft container 4.2 to 5.2 tonnes of puffed makhana, depending on grade and packing.

Which export documents do you provide?

Commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, phytosanitary certificate, Certificate of Analysis (CoA) and fumigation certificate where required, plus any other documents agreed in the contract.

Which ports do you ship from?

Export containers are shipped from Kolkata (INCCU), Haldia, Mundra (INMUN) or Nhava Sheva (INNSA). Trial orders and samples can be sent by air.

Which grades are available for export?

We export handpicked (HP) phool makhana in 4 Sutta+ (12.7–25 mm), 4.5 Sutta+ (14.28–25 mm), 5 Sutta (15.87–19 mm), 5 Sutta+ (15.87–25 mm) and 6 Sutta+ (19–25 mm), plus roasted and flavoured makhana, makhana powder and private label packs. HP means that after cleaning and grading, each makhana is picked one by one on an inspection conveyor.

What moisture level do you offer?

Standard moisture is 8–12% for 4 Sutta+, 9–12% for 4.5 Sutta+, 9–10% for 5 Sutta, 9–12% for 5 Sutta+ and 10–12% for 6 Sutta+. Customised moisture up to below 5% is available on buyer requirement.

Can you export under my own brand?

Yes. We offer private label / OEM packing for export buyers, with destination-country labelling approved by the buyer before printing.
