Fox nuts for New Zealand importers and health-food brands

Short answer: National Makhana Udyog supplies graded, handpicked makhana (fox nuts) to New Zealand importers in 4 Sutta+ to 6 Sutta+ grades, and checks the import conditions for the exact product before dispatch. Air trials start from 8 kg, and a 20 ft container carries about 2–2.5 tonnes. Prices are quoted on request.

New Zealand is a smaller market than its neighbour, so buyers here are often Indian grocery importers, specialist health-food distributors and online snack brands that order in smaller, more frequent lots. Like other countries with strict plant and food import rules, New Zealand requires importers to check conditions for each product before shipping.

For Australian buyers, see the separate Australia importer page.

How New Zealand import checks work for makhana

  • Import conditions: the Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) sets import health standards for plant and food products. We review the conditions that apply with you before dispatch, and your broker confirms the final requirement.
  • Labelling: the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code sets country of origin, allergen and nutrition labelling. This is the importer's or brand's responsibility. We supply 10 kg bags for local repacking, or private-label packs printed to your artwork.

Rules change. Your importer or customs broker should confirm current conditions before ordering. We do not claim organic certification.

Roasted & flavoured makhana for New Zealand brands

Health-food brands and online snack sellers in New Zealand can buy roasted makhana ready to pack. Import conditions for roasted products can differ from plain makhana, so we check them with you first.

  • Flavours: Peri Peri, Salt & Pepper and Lemon & Mint.
  • Process: the makhana is first roasted in an air fryer. Then, on customer demand, seasoning is added for flavouring with avocado oil, olive oil or pure ghee.
  • Packs: 50 g pouches, bulk packs, or your own brand and artwork.
  • HSN code 20081929.
