Exporting food commodities to highly regulated markets such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, and Japan requires standards far exceeding traditional domestic wholesale criteria. National Makhana Udyog’s Export Quality Makhana represents the top 15% of our entire harvest yield. To qualify as export grade, raw popped kernels must pass through a multi-stage grading and sorting pipeline combining vibrating mechanical screeners, multi-channel optical color sorters, pneumatic aspiration destoners, and final visual hand-sorting tables.

Every lot is evaluated against strict physical tolerances: a minimum 98% whole-kernel integrity (less than 2% broken fragments), zero tolerance for black seed shell (Kati/Kada) remnants, an average diameter exceeding 16 millimeters (5.5 to 6+ Suta), and a brilliant, uniform natural ivory-white appearance free from harvest bruising or contact scorching.

International Regulatory & Sanitary Compliance

As a seasoned food exporter registered with APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) and the US FDA, our processing and warehousing infrastructure complies with international Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) principles. Each commercial export consignment is supported by comprehensive documentation:

• Phytosanitary Certification: Issued by the Plant Quarantine Organization of India, certifying that the shipment has been inspected according to appropriate official procedures and found free from quarantine pests.
• Comprehensive Certificate of Analysis (CoA): Executed by independent NABL-accredited international analytical laboratories (SGS, TÜV SÜD, or Eurofins). Verifies that moisture content is below 9.0%, aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2) are under strict international detection limits (< 2-4 ppb), microbial counts (Total Plate Count, Yeast & Mold, Salmonella, E. Coli) meet destination food standards, and pesticide residues comply with maximum residue limits (MRLs).
• Fumigation Certification: Executed by government-approved pest control operators utilizing Methyl Bromide or Phosphine in sealed containers prior to vessel departure, with tamper-evident high-security bolt seals.
• Country of Origin & FDA Prior Notice: Complete documentation packs ensuring frictionless customs clearance at major international ports.

Containerized Shipping Logistics & Moisture Preservation

Makhana is a low-density, high-volume commodity that is acutely sensitive to ocean maritime conditions. Crossing equatorial zones and moving through transshipment ports exposes containers to intense diurnal temperature fluctuations, creating interior container rain (condensation). To eliminate this risk, our export consignments are packed in heavy-duty food-grade Polypropylene (PP) outer bags reinforced with hermetically heat-sealed virgin Low-Density Polyethylene (LDPE) liners of 100-micron thickness.

Containers are prepared with food-grade kraft liner paper on all interior walls and floor boards, and hung with high-capacity calcium chloride container desiccants designed to absorb over 200% of their weight in moisture. Typical load capacities are 2.5 to 3.2 Metric Tonnes per 20ft ocean container and 6.0 to 7.5 Metric Tonnes per 40ft High Cube container.

Global Importer Partnership Framework & Commercial Terms

We work closely with overseas buyers, offering transparent FOB (Kolkata Port / Nhava Sheva Port) and CIF (destination seaport or airport) pricing under Incoterms 2020.
